Howdy, I'm Missy! I love to bake and cook from scratch, take pictures of pretty much anything and everything, work hard on our family farm, and be with my awesome family. I adore being barefoot outside no matter what the weather and playing in the dirt and mud (yes, lots of mud!). My favorite music is country and Josh Turner is my favorite singer (no, Scotty McCreery does NOT compare), American flag boots are my favorite ever, and I'm a sucker for brown Ford pickups. However, if you really want to turn my head show me a Ford Raptor!
This blog is a place where you'll find recipes that are actually good for you. Well, okay, that's only half true. I don't think you could ever make a cake or pie that's good for you unless it's made with carrots and broccoli. But hey, now I have something to shoot for, right? I love creating my own recipes, mostly out if necessity, however most of the recipes I create are true masterpieces. In my humble opinion. ;)
I am a full time farm girl and part time food blogger. Which means farm first, blog second. Which also means, when I make the most beautiful, healthy, delicious meal, it might be 9:00pm and pitch black out. NOT photo worthy. Which doesn't mean that I'm carelessly throwing random recipes at you. I wouldn't be here if I did that. I put my time and heart into these posts for you, even if you get one once a week, or one a month. Know I am always working on new, healthy recipes for you, whether in my kitchen with the camera handy, or in my mind as I'm making another round on the tractor.
Most of the recipes you will find here are my own creation. If not, they are altered from their original form so they are no longer recognizable from what they used to be. They are tried and true, taste tested by me, my family and sometimes trusted friends.
If you are looking for the easy, 'box of this, can of that' recipe website, this blog is not for you. Simply Baking was created for the person who wants to cook, bake, and create healthy, whole foods from scratch, and need some help getting started.
I use the most organic, whole, and natural ingredients as possible in all of my recipes. I believe it is very important to feed your body things that are unaltered from their natural state. It's crazy and totally unnecessary to believe how complicated eating healthy has become! With mixed reviews, it's good, it's bad, yes GMO, no GMO, etc. It's enough to make one burry their head in the sand. So what does one do? Go back to the land. Grow your own food. Raise your own meat. I understand many of you can't do that, however you can make educated choices when you buy food. Organic, non-GMO is a great place to start! Those types of things feed your body what it really needs and will use to keep you trim, give you energy, keep you healthy, and make you feel alive!
A lot of what I post are recipes that I've searched high and low for and never found one. A red, white, and blue dessert for example. Do you realize how hard it is to get a good recipe for anything red, white, and blue without all the dyes and sugar? So I ended up creating my own. Here I am sharing these recipes with you and hope you find as much enjoyment making them as I did!
Here's to days of energy filled living, joyful family get-togethers (with lots of food!), and lazy summer days in the hammock with country music playing in the background!
