Dutch Baby (or Dutch Puff) is a really old recipe folks have made since forever. I love making Dutch Babies for breakfast, lunch, or even dinner! This is a super easy, versatile, and yummy dish!
You can literally use whatever you want in this recipe...or whatever you have on hand. You could make it the same all the time, or make something new so it's never the same!
The basic recipe for this is 12 eggs, 1/3 cup of flour, whatever spices you want, whatever meat you want, and whatever vegetables you want! Though, I usually stick with one version. It's so much easier.
I often will serve this with fresh muffins and/or fresh fruit for a well rounded meal. Perfect for starting any day right! The little kids even like it!
I love the Dutch Baby! Filling, delicious, easy or intricate, it's a perfect meal for any time of day.
You can get SO creative with the simple recipe I gave above but here is my recipe I make often to give you an idea of what you can do!
Dutch Baby
12 eggs
1/3 cup flour
1/2 cup milk
2 tsp. marjoram leaf
1 tsp. garlic powder
1-1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. pepper
1 cup cooked brown rice (optional)
1/4 cup chopped tomatoes
2-3 onion slices, chopped
1-1/2 tsp parsley
1 package of bacon, cooked and crumpled
1 cup shredded cheese
Crack eggs into a bowl. Whisk the flour into the milk until smooth; add to the eggs. Add remaining ingredients to the egg mixture and pour into a GREASED cast iron skillet. Bake at 400 degrees for about 40 minutes. Let sit 10 minutes before cutting and eating. Enjoy!
